Original acquisition cost
Accumulated depreciation

Key Columns Explained (Line-by-Line)
Asset Name
Unique name of the asset
Usually linked to the vendor bill or purchase
Example: Office Laptop – Dell Latitude
Acquisition Date
Date when the asset was capitalized
Often the vendor bill validation date
Why it matters:
Determines depreciation start date
Original Value (Gross Value)
Purchase cost of the asset
Excludes recoverable VAT
Example: AED 10,000
Depreciable Value
Original Value minus Salvage Value
Formula: Depreciable Value = Cost – Salvage Value
Example:
Cost: 10,000
Salvage: 1,000
Depreciable Value: 9,000
Accumulated Depreciation
Total depreciation charged up to the report date
Example: AED 3,600
This represents wear and tear already expensed.
Net Book Value (NBV)
Current carrying value of the asset
Formula: NBV = Original Value – Accumulated Depreciation
Example: 10,000 – 3,600 = 6,400
This is the value that appears in the Balance Sheet.
